Pet-Safe Plants

plants are the new pets and pets are the new kids- and we would never want to endanger our babies! Read below to see which plants we recommend for homes with beloved pet babies!

To help you navigate through which plants are pet safe, we’ve rounded up a couple of our shop favorites to share with you!

To begin with, The least toxic plant is the Calathea. Calatheas are one of our favorite plants at the shop for many many reasons, the first of which is their beauty and variety! Calatheas come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. The Peacock Calathea boasts a beautiful dark purple color, while the Freddie Calathea (pictured above) is lovely striped mint green. Other common varieties of Calathea include the Ornata Calathea, the Orbifola Calathea, and the Rattlesnake Calathea. This unique plant likes medium to low light, high humidity, and consistently moist soil. They’re sometimes known as the “sleeper plant” because at night time they fold up their leaves, as if they are going to sleep, and in the morning they open back up! (#funfact) Other pet-safe plants include money trees, varieties of palm, succulents, and ferns.

although pet-safe plants are safe, it’s important to place your green friends in areas where your pet will not nibble too much.
